Dreams of Gold
International Labour Organization
Produced and Directed by David Bradshaw
Dreams of Gold follows the stories of three children rescued from one of the most hazardous forms of child labour, mining for gold.
For Vincent, Theresa and Isaac, working in Ghana’s artisanal mines provided much-needed income for their families but came at great personal cost - their health and prospects for the future were diminishing as they returned to the mines to work for as little as $2 each day.
Through their testimony, we learn of the dangers they faced and their dreams for a future free from child labour.
Following the premier at the 108th International Labour Conference at the Palais de Nations in Geneva, it has since been exhibited to audiences around the world:
Global Health Film Festival, London, UK
High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, New York, USA
Global Youth Forum, Abuja, Nigeria
Academy on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, Turin, Italy
Le Bois du Cazier, Belgium. Former coal mine, museum and visitor centre
