Seventy years ago, some of the most powerful nuclear weapons ever created were detonated over the Bikini Atoll – a remote chain of islands in the crystal blue waters of the tropical Pacific. The islands became off-limits to mankind, saturated in radioactive fallout.

During the Cold War nuclear arms race, over 23 nuclear weapons were detonated throughout 12 years on Bikini Atoll. The islands became off-limits to humankind, saturated in radioactive fallout and toxic waste. In 2015 however, the state-of-the-art exploration vessel MV Alucia and her crew returned to discover the secrets below the waves. Dive deep to the Atomic Ghost fleet alongside researchers to reveal the fate of many relics, and discover the dreadful circumstances in which they were sunk.

Produced using archived film and 360-degree footage, this experience offers a rare and poignant insight into a period of history, which is often too easily lost and forgotten.
